The Conundrum Chronicles
The Conundrum Chronicles is a performance on the first Tuesday each month at the Marsh Theatre on Valencia Street. The performance is a story slam that is judged by the audience.
This September, the Conundrum Chronicles teamed with 826 Valencia to host a youth version of the event. The performers were middle schoolers and high schoolers who built their stories at an 826 Valencia workshop. During this Conundrum Chronicles, 5 New Schoolers, Mason Liang (6th grade), Liam Liang (8th grade), Nur Schlenker (8th grade), Syah Victoria (8th grade), and last but certainly not least, the winner of the slam, Sava Wallaert (8th grade) performed.
At the September slam, two New School students finished on the podium, the aforementioned winner, Sava Wallaert, and the third place finisher, Syah Victoria, both NewsCool Chronicle members. The slam’s theme was Stuck/Unstuck, and participants had to form a story with the theme. For example, Nur wrote about a time when she felt stuck was when her flight was delayed and she and her family had to be woken up in the dead of night to make their late flight.
In conclusion, (sorry, Ms. T), the slam was a success and was comedic and touching to hear every story told. If you want to attend the next Conundrum Chronicles, go to the Marsh Theatre (in the Mission, not in Berkeley) at 7:00 pm on November 11 and enjoy!
P.S. The entrance fee is only ten dollars!
