6th Grade Student Council Candidates
With the NSSF Student Council Elections wrapping up, the 6th grade candidates are all very promising. With them being new to middle school and the student council process, they all show great leadership and can clearly handle important tasks and responsibilities. They look to be great role models for younger students and the next era of NSSF. With that being said, here are the candidates, and their skills, ideas, and things they want people to know.
Harry:
Has prior experience with business (running a candy store). Made a profit on the candy business and promises to make a profit for NSSF
Will be committed and will follow through with his ideas
Likes reading and practicing magic and martial arts.
Will work collaboratively with the student council
Ideas: spelling bee
Wants to tackle NSSF challenges
Helena:
Leadership, communication, confident, kind
Main ideas: survey for students to share ideas, trading day(old books and clothes, etc)
Wants people to know that she will listen to others’ ideas and implement them anytime
Jojo:
Skills include creativity and leadership responsibilities from being an older sister, babysitter, and Girl Scout cadet.
Observant and organized
Ideas include snack breaks (time off to eat a snack), sparks off on Fridays, and using the block for reading, writing, or homework. Students also get to choose their art project, but the teacher needs to approve.
Rhodes:
Will sacrifice his time for others to be heard
Works hard on basketball, and will work just as hard on the student council if elected
One idea of his is that all students will have representatives and work with teachers
As a middle schooler, he is a good role model for younger students
Listening skills and will cherish others’ ideas. Leadership skills as well
Watson:
Likes to play soccer, video games, read, and play the piano
Was the president of Turkey America at a summer camp
Works together with others. Has collaboration skills
Ideas: Middle school talent show, create a better experience for all students in NSSF. Suggestion box: people give suggestions to improve the school environment. Make learning more interesting (examples include a garden to learn biology and life science. Fresh produce as well, and can be served at school lunch
Believes everyone should have fun at school
Amelia:
Wants to make the school environment better.
More dress up days(pajamas, etc)
Has communication skills, responsibility, and knows how to listen to her peers
Believes she is dependable, organized, and takes commitment seriously
Ideas include: themed dress-up days, families donate and contribute to the school store (more variety). Also includes students getting homework help from other teachers or students(can be in lunch bunches and other periods)
Barnaby:
Has communication skills
3 main ideas: wider options at the school store (better snacks, wider selection of drinks, and merchandise to be sold), and a suggestion box: wants to voice his peers’ needs and share them.
