Interview With Student Council Members

I interviewed 8th graders Sequoia Kimball and Galit Goldberg about what has been happening behind the scenes at our school. Sequoia has been on student council since 6th grade and has worked her way from representative to Vice President to President. Galit is currently an alternate and is in her first year on student council.

Sequoia says they are planning spirit week, which everyone is excited for. The student council also plans our middle school meetings, as well as bake sales and fundraising. In Sequoia's words, "the school store can get chaotic," and later she says, "I don't love it."

Both students like feeling responsible, but Galit added that it's a "great way to feel community" and "getting things done with a deadline." Some additional advice Sequoia would like to give to anyone applying for student council is, "The interview is very important. Make sure you're confident and come prepared. Show us you're willing to make an effort." Sequoia would also like to share that "everyone should apply to student council because it's fun." She also says that if you have any questions or feedback, she and other representatives would be happy to answer them.

When I asked them about their favorite NCC articles, Galit said she loves the Teacher Gossip column, claiming, "Who doesn't want to learn about teacher gossip? It's so interesting to learn about teachers' lives when you only see them in class." On the other hand, Sequoia finds the "67 article," bios, Syah's comic, and Record Round Up are her favorites.

Lastly, Galit would like to say, "Eleanor Dubasik is the best human chicken lover there is and I'm in love with her." She also wants to share that she loves a song about nails.

Ellie is a super awesome child that loves (alive) chickens. She writes the Teacher Gossip column and the Women of the Week (WOW). She loves interviewing people and working with her friends on the NewsCool Chronicle. One of her special talents is photoshopping people into celebrities, playing video games, and playing sports. HAVE A NICE REST OF YOUR DAY!
