MALALA YOUSAFZAI

Activist

Malala Yousafzai grew up in MIngora, Pakastan during the time it was taken over by the Taliban. The Taliban forbade women from going to school, after she spoke out against it publicly, she was shot in the head on her way home from school in 2012. After being shot, she woke up ten days later in the UK, where she started the Malala Fund.

The Malala Fund gives girls the opportunity to choose their own future and education. Malala won the Nobel Peace Prize in December of 2014, making her the youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner at age 17. After graduating from Oxford University in 2020, she continued to advocate for women's educational rights all around the world.

β€œOne child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the world.”
