Chocolate Chip Strawberry Sponge Cake Hearts
We really enjoyed these chocolate chip strawberry sponge cake hearts by 7th grader Ellie Dubasik.
Ingredients:
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 3/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup milk
Handful of chocolate chips
Frosting
Strawberries
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Grease a 9-inch cake pan
Cream white sugar with butter in a mixing bowl
Add eggs one at a time, beating briefly after each egg
Mix in vanilla
In a separate bowl, combine flour and baking powder
Add the wet ingredients and mix well
Add milk and mix until smooth
Pour batter into the cake pan
Bake for 30-40 minutes
Remove from the oven and let cool
Frost, decorate, and enjoy!
