Last Thursday, the G8 boys basketball team played the St. Brendan Bears for the Semifinal Game. The matchup was a high stakes elimination round which would decide who would go to the finals and who would go home.

Early in the first quarter, New School came to an early lead but The Bears weren’t yet discouraged, and they made an impressive run led by the Bears’ number 13. During the break between the first and second quarters New School coach, Jarrod Shappell told the group that the squad needed to slow the ball down and focus on rebounding.

In the second quarter, Point Guard Otis Harris - Wai and Center, Quinn Connard both provided a spark on both rebounding and offense. New School began to pull ahead by a wide margin of points and came into halftime with a comfortable lead.

In the third and fourth quarters, New School continued to score easily in the paint and dominate the glass on rebounding. The amazing effort by New School caused them to win 39 to 26 and move on to the finals. In the Finals, New School will be playing the KZV Armenian School Van-Cats at 6:00 on Monday, February 23, at Bushnell Center.
